For anyone that follows me you’ll know that I have a little soft spot for small, Light weight sports cars.
For me there is no greater driving pleasure than the rawness of a Lotus Elise, or the nimbleness of a Mazda MX-5.
Since the Mazda Mx-5 s were first released in 1989, they have been one of the most popular sports cars ever sold. The recipe was pretty simple. Take the drivability and lightweight nimbleness of the British roadsters of the 60’s and 70’s, create the same fun factor with Japanese reliability and some modern technology, and package it all together in an affordable package, Viola!!! The Mazda MX-5.
Now since then the humble little MX-5 is now in it’s 4th generation and appealing to a younger generation.
In 2015 the ND Mx5 was released, and this took the car way back to the lightness of the original NA models with all the modern technology and comforts and 5 star ANCAP safety rating.
But they weren’t done there………..
In 2016 was the surprise release of the MX-5 RF model. (Retractable fastback) This had a very cool looking fastback coupe with a foldable hardtop that creates a Targa.
Now, in 2018, it has been announced, that in Australia we will have access to only 110, MX5 RF Limited Edition Models. These will be a performance model with BBS wheels, Bilstein shocks, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, strut bar and Sports Body Kit. It also comes with a choice of five exterior colours and a black roof.
Depending on your location and extras, these are expected to land here at about $55k
Now as you can see, Mazda Australia are taking expressions of interest at the moment, so if you are like me, and this Mazda MX-5 gets you super excited, then go to the Mazda Australia website and give them your details. Stay up-to-date with the progress of this model coming to Australia.
